New federal requirements for entry-level driver training for the commercial driver license (CDL) in effect February 7, 2022 Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations for entry-level driver training (ELDT) for CDL licenses were mandated under the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21 Century Act (MAP-21). The regulations require entry-level driver’s 18-years of age or older to complete their training from a provider listed on a Training Provider Registry. UA-PTC is an approved provider. The regulations also require a score of 80% or greater on theory assessments, certification in Pre-Trip, Backing, and Driving (skills test). Only one attempt is allowed on the skills test with state police. If a student fails the skills test, the student must re-enroll in an 8-week section to be recertified. 3 Professional Truck Driving Student HandbookDrug T Students must pass a drug test through a DOT approved teste prior to the first day of class. Students must bring a copy of the results to the CDL faculty member for the student records.
